City Blocks
Oct 5th, 2009 by admin
For many years, the Baltimore Architecture Foundation sponsored an annual holiday tradition that brought adults and children together to create TYCO Block sculpture that inhabited the display windows of the Main Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library. The creations were judged by school children and remained on display through the holiday season. Things change of course, and the tradition went unfortunately into hibernation.
We are very pleased to announce that the tradition is to have a revival beginning this late November. Thanks to Harborplace & The Gallery, the CITY BLOCKS competition has a new home. Read on to find out more about this year’s event.
City Blocks 2009
Saturday, November 21, Noon – 4:00 PM
At Harborplace & The Gallery, Light Street Pavilion, Level 2

Do you or your kids love to play with Legos??
Do you secretly desire to build a 6-foot tall Lego sculpture?
If so, the Baltimore Architecture Foundation is looking for teams of adults and youth for City Blocks, its (reestablished) annual TYCO building block competition. This is a great opportunity to inspire your child’s sense of creativity as well as build teamwork at your firm or office. There will be prizes and awards for multiple categories, and refreshments and snacks will be provided throughout the day. After the event, everyone can celebrate and join the holiday festivities at Harborplace & The Gallery including watching Santa come to Baltimore for the holidays by boat at 4:30 PM at the Harborplace Amphitheater.
- Adults and children of all sizes are encouraged to come and for those not competing there will be a special play area provided.
- Deadline for registration is Friday, October 16. (If you don’t have a team but would like to participate, let us know and we?ll find a team that you can join)
