City Sand 2008 :: Reasons To Smile

May 22nd, 2008 by admin

Theme

Teams will challenge one another in a sand sculpture building contest based on the theme Reasons to Smile. Trident, City Sand 2008’s presenting sponsor, believes “There’s Strength in a Smile…Pass it Along.” Create a design inspired by anything that makes you show those pearly whites!

Time

Saturday, June 21, 2008, noon-4:00pm at Harborplace Amphitheater.

Rules

Each team will be provided with an area of sand approximately 10′x10′x1′ in which to build. Only hand tools and water can be used for construction of the forms. No power tools, paint, additives, armatures, or framework allowed. Water will be provided on site.

Prizes:

Each team will receive gifts compliments of Trident and Grand Prizes will be awarded to the Judge’s Choice Winner and People’s Choice Winner.

Entry Fee:

$50 registration fee per team. Teams with at least one BAF member pay $20. Captain’s Breakfast: Two members from each team are invited to a complimentary Captain’s Breakfast at Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards a couple weeks prior to the event (Date & Time TBA). This serves as a chance to meet the other teams and generate ideas for your sand sculpture. The Baltimore Architecture Foundation is pleased to continue its long-standing partnership with Harborplace & The Gallery. We also recognize the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards and the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum for supporting this year’s event.
